The Corsham Climbing Wall is around 7.3m (24ft), and features eight traditional roped lines and a ledge for abseils. This facility is used heavily by the JSOI Team as we run sessions here six days a week! We offer everything here from half-hour 1:1 tasters through to hour-long afterschool clubs, parties and coaching as well as evenings of access for competent adult climbers to enjoy the routes here too!
The wall is regularly reset, and although small it has an impressive amount of routes with grades varying from 3+ up to 7a+, so there is something for everyone, whether you're new to the sport or a seasoned mountaineer! FAQ's
Is there a minimum age?
We don't enforce a strict minimum age for our private sessions and taster slots, however our public group sessions start at 6yrs+. If you're interested in a session for your child (under 6yrs) we just need to ensure a harness will fit safely and of course set some realistic expectations for the session, ordinarily we find those aged 4yrs+ get on really well and can often make it the top of the wall, though sometimes just being on the climbing wall at any height is adventure enough and of course who doesn't love swinging around on a rope!
Is the wall just for kids?
Absolutely not, no! We run sessions for adults every week including dedicated beginner courses, private and coaching sessions as well as evening slots for competent roped climbers aged 16yrs+ to come and use the wall.
Can we just turn up and climb?
Sadly we aren't at the wall every hour of every day, although we try to be sometimes! This unfortunately means we can't accept walk-ins for most sessions. Pre-booking is essential! That being said if you walk by and there happens to be a space in our schedule and it's a suitable session slot, we'll do what we can to accommodate you, we just ask that you don't rely on that alone!
Can you provide catering for my party / event?
Unfortunately we don't currently offer catering, however the climbing wall is directly next to the centre's Cafe who may be able to help with this side of your party / event booking. We'll stick to the ropes while letting the foodie professionals do their thing in the kitchen! If you want a party-room or information on food & drink please let us know when making your session booking!
Do we need our own equipment?
You are very welcome to bring your own equipment if you have it, but all required equipment is provided FREE of charge!
